Maria Clara

"We did not want to see her suffer that way. Our main fear was a head injury, because of falls. We adapted our entire house by placing floor mats, protecting wall corners, and sharp edges of furniture. Our financial condition was suffering as well, " said Rodrigo, Maria Clara's father, before they tried 1PURE CBD."

Maria Clara

Maria Clara was just 15 months old when she began experiencing 30-40 seizures per day. She was soon diagnosed with a specific form of Epilepsy known as Lennox Gastaut Syndrome. As a consequence, Maria Clara also lost her ability to make sounds. Our Family was stricken with sadness over Maria Clara condition.

"We did not want to see her suffer that way. Our main fear was a head injury, because of falls.  We adapted our entire house by placing floor mats, protecting wall corners, and sharp edges of furniture.  Our financial condition was suffering as well, " said Rodrigo, the father of Maria Clara, before we started giving 1PURE CBD.

The family searched all over for a solution. Maria Clara’s father took a leave of abscense from his technical job in automation for eighteen days. The mother resigned from her position, they sold the family car so they would have enough money to take Maria Clara to the city of Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo to place a stimulator unit of the vagus nerve, which intended to soften and control the sieizures. Maria Clara Oliveira underwent surgery to install a device under the skin on her chest.

The family stayed for 18 days in a house in the interior of São Paulo until the girl was seen by professional. A doctor indicated the vagus nerve stimulator, which softens and controls the seizures. Maria Clara underwent surgery to install a device under the skin on her chest.

Maria Clara was treated by three specialists, and for six years traveling twice a week to the city of Belo Horizonte, where she was treated.

The neurologist Dr. Lucas Magalhães, who currently cares for Maria Clara says syndrome is quite rare, effecting only 2 in 10,000 children born. In addition to Maria Clara, Dr. Lucas Magalhães cares for 4 other children who also suffer from this rare indication.

"The syndrome is very serious and can be very aggressive as it appears in the early stages of the neurological development of a young child. As it increases, it will deteriorate the patient's brain, thus causing loss of consciousness, senses and results in many seizures," says Lucas Magalhães.

In 2014, Maria Clara parents began giving Cannabidiol to their daughter and soon thereafter the seizure’s virtually stopped.

Today they use 1 PURE Cannabidiol as a therapeutic treatment for their daughter’s condition.

Regarding the Lennox Gastaut syndrome?

Lennox Gastaut syndrome (LGS) is a very rare form of childhood epilepsy, it is characterized by frequent seizures at the beginning, of various types, which generally do not improve significantly with popular anticonvulsant medications. The LGS usually begins early in life.  Its consequences are delayed neurological and psychomotor development of children affected, accompanied by cognitive dysfunction. The Lennox Gastaut Syndrome is about 1-4% of childhood epilepsies. Over time, the Lennox Gastaut syndrome is more resistant to drugs, causing serious problems in the neurological and psychomotor development of the affected children.
